Is Celebrate Recovery only for chemically related issues?
No, Celebrate Recovery is for anyone with a hurt, hang-up, or habit. This can include but is not limited to the following issues and addictions: Co-dependency, anger, ACA (Adult Children of Chemically Addicted), eating disorders, financial recovery, food addiction, sexual addiction, chemical (alchohol/drug) addictions.
Is Celebrate Recovery only for Christians or people who go to church?
Celebrate Recovery is for anyone and everyone. We are unapologetic about the fact we believe true freedom from our hurts, hang-ups, and habits come from the work of Jesus in our lives. That is the basis from which we work, however we DO NOT exclude anyone on this basis. Our hope is that over time they too will experience the inner transformation and freedom that come from faith in Jesus Christ.
How can people who claim to be Christians struggle with such issues?
Life is not bias when it comes to dishing out pain and trial, Christian or not. We all experience them, however, few of us have ever dealt with the effects of them. Recovery is something no one should be ashamed of. We all need to find freedom from those hurts, hang-ups, and habits that are destructive to our lives.
Is Celebrate Recovery supportive of other recovery groups such as AA, NA, etc?
Celebrate Recovery is by no means at odds with these groups. We are thankful for the work they do and the large number of people they've helped. Our desire is to integrate the Christian faith into the 12 steps, naming Jesus Christ as our sole Higher Power. Celebrate Recovery has been doing this since 1991.
